The Shoshone also fought against traditional enemies, including the Lakota Sioux and the Cheyenne, around the same time, with some Shoshone occasionally fighting with the Americans against their age-old enemies. By the time the Shoshone had been relegated to reservation life, there were fewer than 5,000 members left, but over time, their population has gradually increased.
