作者介紹 【作者】Mark Twain馬克．吐溫（Mark Twain，本名薩謬爾．藍亨．克萊門斯 Samuel Langhorne Clemens）於 1835 年出生，少年時期在密蘇里州的漢尼拔鎮（Hannibal, Missouri）度過，這座小鎮也成為他兩部最偉大的傑作《The Adventures of Tom Sawyer》（湯姆歷險記）與《The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn》（頑童歷險記）的背景舞台。這位前蒸汽船領航員曾嘗試過印刷、排字乃至淘金等各種職業，最終在新聞報導與旅行寫作中找到了天命。他曾被威廉．福克納（William Faulkner）譽為「美國文學之父」，在經歷了漫長旅遊、破產打擊與文學巔峰的傳奇一生後，於 1910 年辭世，留給後世無數跨越時代的經典幽默與深刻洞察。Born Samuel Langhorne Clemens in 1835, Mark Twain spent his youth in Hannibal, Missouri, which forms the setting for his two greatest works, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Trying his hand at printing, typesetting and then gold-mining, the former steam-boat pilot eventually found his calling in journalism and travel writing. Dubbed 'the father of American literature' by William Faulkner, Twain died in 1910 after a colourful life of travelling, bankruptcy and great literary success.
