內容簡介

內容簡介 Through intricate detail and captivating compositions, Jan van Eyck was one of the most innovative Renaissance artists of the 15th century. Though only 25 surviving works are confidently attributed to him, his extraordinary recreation of reality highly influenced later generations of Early Netherlandish painters. Examine his masterful oil works in this hardcover introduction exploring his spectacular life and oeuvre. “As long as van Eyck stands on the horizon, a light shines to the edges of the present world; under this light, the present world seems to awaken, recognize itself and grow brighter.” — Eugène Fromentin, 1876
