I have many good memories of reading daily devos with my group. The year was 1990, each morning part way through the "most important hour of the day", (the first hour), our group would read a short devos before proceeding with our morning chores. Just like my own life, our group experienced times when we connected with the devos, other times, not so much. Nonetheless, it was a vital discipline and time for learning about God's faithful plan for our lives. It is always "good for my soul."

Over the years, I've often considered writing a devos designed specifically for a group living together in the woods, living in structures built by the group and for the group, and with all the daily plans and activities planned by this same group. Figuring out how to live life together in the mystery we call a "group."

This devos is first and foremost about bringing "glory to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ". The scripture tells us that all we do is to bring glory to our Father. God has been so faithful over the years. "His ways are truly higher than our ways, and His thoughts higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:9-10)."

As you read through these daily devos, it's my desire for you to be challenged to grow deeper in your "walk with Christ." If you currently are not experiencing a "walk with our Savior", you only need to ask Him to forgive you of your sins and to "create in you a new heart and renew a right spirit within you" (Psalm 51:10).

Maybe you're reading them in a campsite, along a river with the canoes pulled up on the riverbank, or sitting in a circle around the fire, preparing to put your backpack on and begin hiking a rugged section of a remote trail. Possibly you're inside your house or office? Today, you can only dream of being outside. Whatever it is, always remember to walk in step with Jesus. My life, while in rhythm with Jesus, always glorifies the Father in ways it never can when I insist on living under my own strength.

I've been blessed to be a part of many campers changing their lives for all eternity. Our Savior deserves all the glory. Many, many times over the years, we've prayed for Him to be Lord over every "inch" of the property, just as He always has been and always will be. Gator Camp is His, we are just the stewards of His work for a short while; we have been given "this side of heaven."
