Terror takes over the town when a harmless dragon moves into the well in this humorous picture book about overcoming preconceived ideas born out of fear.

A fire-breathing dragon is discovered in the well, and the townsfolk are quick to panic. "A wicked, foul BEAST," wails the local knitting club. "This MONSTER is relentless," proclaims the clergyman. "Our poor town is CURSED," goes up the sad lament.

But wait . . . is this dragon really as dangerous as they think?

Despite one child's& insistence that the dragon is harmless--based on her encyclopedic dragon knowledge--fear quickly turns into something even bigger and scarier than a fiery beast hidden in the dark: an angry mob! Will the villagers be able to quiet their yelling, put down their pitchforks, and conquer their fear in time to realize that sometimes a dragon in a well might turn out to be a gift rather than a curse?

Join in the fun of this lively tale, bursting with colorful illustrations and ticklish details, to discover the power of facts over freak-outs and the enriching value of compassionate understanding.

KNIGHT & DRAGON LOVE: This wise and witty reimagining of the perennial knight and dragon narrative is for fans of Knight Owl, How to Train Your Dragon, and Dragons Love Tacos.

WHAT'S TRUE?: Speaking to classic themes like those in "The Emperor's New Clothes," "The Boy Who Cried Wolf," and "Chicken Little," this is a fantastic fable that asks readers, like the townspeople, to decide what is true and what is not.

ENERGETIC CLASSROOM BOOK: Great for school libraries and classrooms from pre-K through early elementary, the story makes a terrific jumping-off point for discussions about fact-based research, thinking for yourself, and, of course, cool dragons!

Perfect for:

Lovers of fairy tales and fairy tale retellings
Parents and caregivers seeking a story that will surprise, delight, and invite young readers to grow as thinkers
Teachers and librarians
Anyone who appreciates clever, hilarious takes on the fairy tale genre

Sir James of Serafino has studied dragons for the past twenty years. He honed his skills as a plucky young squire in the New City of York before pledging his sacred honor to the perilous profession of dragonology. When not gallivanting across the kingdom on his flights of fancy, Sir James can be found living in a small cottage with his witchy wife and goblin child in the tiny hamlet of Hopewell, New Jerseyshire.
