作者介紹 Confucius is one of the most well-known philosophers from ancient China. He taught the importance of good character in each individual, which would affect every other aspect of society by promoting the same good character in others. Lao Tzu is best known for being the founder of Taoism and for writing its foundational text, Tao Te Ching. His main beliefs focused on connecting with the universe, which he referred to as the Tao, finding a balance between oneself with that universe, and achieving inner peace through cleansing oneself of greed and desire. Sun Tzu was both a Chinese general and philosopher credited with writing The Art of War. Siddhartha Gautama, the original Buddha and founder of Buddhism, had his teachings recorded in several religious texts, one of which is the Dhammapada. Aśvaghoṣa was a devoted follower of Mahayana Buddhism. His book, The Awakening of Faith, would help to break down the beliefs of this branch of Buddhism.
