The Guerrilla Fighter's Daughter and the Madwoman is the powerful memoir of a girl exiled to Mexico City because of the war in her native country.

In this true story, Saia Vergara Jaime--currently Deputy Minister of Culture in Colombia--gives voice to the girl she once was and, through a language that barely manages to name the world, tells us what happens in her heart and everyday life, always permeated by the uncertainty of exile. The child's story is interspersed with the voice of the adult who comforts the girl and that of the grieving woman who talks to her deceased father about the history they had to live through. How can life be rebuilt thousands of miles away from loved ones and dreams? How can one get through the pain of losing a father figure?
