ENGLISH DESCRIPTION An incredible gift that links several generations. A journey full of love, discovery, war, and life.
Shaman, the sequel to The Physician by Noah Gordon, follows in the footsteps of its predecessor and explores the challenges of a tumultuous and conflict-ridden era.
North America, XIX century. Descendant of a family that has practiced medicine over the years, Dr. Robert Judson Cole leaves his native Scotland in search of a better future. After working with the eminent surgeon Oliver Wendell Holmes, he continues westward across America with his son, Robert Jefferson Cole, with whom he shares a passion for the art of healing. Father and son will travel to the frontier of Illinois and from there to the war-torn lands of Gettysburg, a territory that settlers have yet to wrest from the Sauk Indians. Determined to study the puzzling healing traditions of the Native Americans, learning from their culture and remedies, father and son seem to have settled. However, they have not accounted for the bloody vortex of the Civil War, from which no one can escape...
