Niños del pájaro azul / Children of the Blue Bird

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

The latest book by the Premio Nacional de Literatura winner from Peru Karina Pacheco.

Set in rural landscapes, cliffs, and exuberant rainforests, where an indigenous print can still be found, these stories reflect how the abuse of power--whether it comes from corruption; drug trade; gender, state, or insurgent violence--conditions the life of the protagonists: children exposed to all kinds of oppression and harassment. Through stories where nature emerges with a voice of its own, the echoes of childhood become restorative memory and, at the same time, plot-promoting motors: a story arch that confronts us with an indisputable search for justice and with the plot twists that fate weaves in the face of oblivion.

With an engaging prose and a subtle touch of fantasy, these short stories by Karina Pacheco invite us to glimpse at the unresolved fractures of the past, which, with new forms and masks, continue to shake the present of Latin America.
