作者介紹
Jacobo Grinberg-Zylberbaum nació el 12 de diciembre de 1946 en la Ciudad de México, en una familia de inmigrantes que habían escapado de las persecuciones antisemitas en Europa del Este. Estudió psicología en la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) y un doctorado en Neurociencias en la Universidad de Nueva York. Jacobo Grinberg-Zylberbaum es uno de los mexicanos más desafiantes de la segunda mitad del siglo xx. Eligió el cerebro humano como tema de investigación y se propuso responder a la pregunta de dónde proviene la experiencia, es decir, cómo se construye la realidad en la mente. Esa respuesta lo llevó a formular la teoría sintérgica (sintergia, neologismo derivado de síntesis y energía), de la que se hablará más adelante. Grinberg-Zylberbaum fue un hombre de ciencia, obsesionado con las mediciones objetivas y puntuales, los experimentos y las comprobaciones de laboratorio. Esa obsesión, sin embargo, no le impidió cruzar fronteras: conoció y divulgó los supuestos dones de los chamanes indígenas como Pachita, que realizaba trasplantes de órganos con un cuchillo de monte. Se tomó en serio las escuelas místicas, en especial la cábala judía y el budismo tibetano; estudió y practicó la meditación y el yoga. Sus intereses intelectuales quedaron registrados en más de 50 libros. Fue un autor prolífico que lo mismo escribió textos científicos que cuentos, novelas y una autobiografía. En diciembre de 1994 Jacobo Grinberg desapareció. Nunca fue localizado y las autoridades no obtuvieron mayores pistas de su paradero ni de los posibles responsables de su secuestro. Su repentina ausencia provocó, primero, una temporada de olvido. Grinberg no era bien visto por la comunidad científica de su época y durante años había soportado acusaciones de charlatanería y falta de rigor científico. Con el tiempo, sin embargo, se ha formado un público dispuesto a las propuestas del doctor Grinberg. Quien se aventure a leer sus libros encontrará a un autor audaz, a un científico que cruzó fronteras y, sobre todo, a un ser humano que buscó la libertad en cada palabra escrita.
