The culminating point of Lorca's first aesthetic stage, the poet himself defines it as the poem of Andalusia, and I call it gypsy because the gypsy is the highest, the deepest, the most aristocratic of my country, the most representative of his way and the one who keeps the ember, the blood and the alphabet of the Andalusian and universal truth.
