&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspBorn in Hamburg in 1846, Henry SCHRADIECK made his first public appearance at the age of six. He studied at Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where he gained first prize. Later he went to Moscow as Professor of the violin. He taught at the College of Music of Cincinnati, the Hamburg Conservatory, and later taught in New York City and Philadelphia. In addition to writing pedagogic material for the violin in the way of the studies and finger exercises in this book, he earned the reputation of being one of the foremost violin teachers of the day. Schradieck's notable students include Ottokar Novacek, Norman Black, and Theodore Spiering.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspAs well as being a master teacher, Schradieck was a master player (faculty peers considered him to have attained flawless, perfect violin technique).
