內容簡介
內容簡介 • The complete album +1 bonus track on 180g crystal clear vinyl. In December 1957, Miles Davis traveled to Paris where he was to perform at the Club Saint-Germain and the Olympia Theatre. While in Paris, he was also booked to record the soundtrack to a new film by the French director Louis Malle: Ascenseur Pour L'échafaud (Elevator to the Gallows). Davis was accompanied by French musicians Barney Wilen on tenor sax, René Urtreger on piano, Pierre Michelot on bass, and American drummer Kenny Clarke, who was living in Paris. The group watched scenes of the movie and then recorded the music in one session without any written score, creating themes and improvising directly to the images. The result was a moody, modern jazz score that brilliantly captured the dark, atmospheric essence of the film and has since become one of the most celebrated jazz soundtracks in history.[Track Listings]- LP, SIDE A -01.
