1980年John Lennon遇刺身亡，The Beatles重聚之夢成為泡影。1994年，小野洋子提供了三首1970 年代後期John Lennon在家中彈唱的demo卡帶給在世三位團員，作為The Beatles「新歌」的基礎。其中兩首加上三人新錄的歌聲和演奏，搭配 Anthology 系列專輯發行，大獲成功。另一首Now and Then原始錄音品質不佳，三人難以克服技術問題，不得不放棄。2001年George Harrison 逝世，之後又過了20年，《魔戒》導演Peter Jackson團隊製作 The Beatles《Get Back》紀錄片，借用AI科技，得以「分離、提取」原始單聲道膠卷模糊不清的人聲對話，成果斐然。Paul McCartney決定以同樣技術處理Now and Then原始錄音，提取出John Lennon乾淨無雜訊的人聲音軌，當年半途而廢的工程，終於得以續完。
2023年，以分離出來的Lennon人聲為基礎，81歲的McCartney補完副歌，和83歲的Ringo Starr各自錄製了和聲、貝斯、鼓，以及McCartney向 Harrison致敬的滑弦獨奏，加上1995年52歲的George Harrison錄的吉他，還有The Beatles製作人George Martin公子Giles Martin編曲的弦樂，並織入Because (1969)和Eleanor Rigby (1966)的和聲音軌，成為一首融匯近60年歲月，四位The Beatles成員都參與的「新歌」。
