內容簡介 小女孩Poppy熱愛大自然，她喜歡各種蟲蟲，會聽小蟬的新樂曲，看見螞蟻行軍，會趕緊讓路給他們，能認得蜘蛛媽媽織的網，還會溫柔地跟蟲蟲說話。但是當有人靠近時，Poppy會趕緊避開，躲在角落靜靜地當背景，隱身成盆栽，或是偽裝成牆上畫作的一部分。在奶奶百歲生日宴，Poppy也只是遠遠觀望，只有當蜻蜓飛到蛋糕上時，Poppy才帶著發亮的眼神靠近人群看蜻蜓。小蜻蜓像遇到老友似的飛到Poppy手上，Poppy還能叫得出學名呢。叔叔捉狹地說，若不是蜻蜓，Poppy就像壁花wallflower一樣躲在樹後，看不見呢！不過奶奶可不認為Poppy是壁花呢，奶奶說Poppy是喜歡大自然、了解大自然的wildflower啊！ Meet Poppy – if you can find her! Poppy loves bugs, and can usually be found carrying on conversations with ladybirds or sitting outside among the brightly coloured wildflowers … but good luck spotting her indoors and around people! She's a master of camouflage, always finding a way to blend into her surroundings. But when a very special bug lands on her grandma's birthday cake, Poppy can't resist popping out to see it. Soon the rest of the guests notice the beautiful dragonfly, and Poppy too. Maybe it's OK to stand out sometimes, just like the vibrant wildflowers and shimmering insects Poppy loves. This poetic and evocative story celebrates the shy and introverted kids among us, as well as the other small creatures to be found if we look closely enough.

作者介紹 Larissa Theule Larissa Theule holds an MFA from the Vermont College of Fine Arts and is the author of the picture books Born to Ride: A Story About Bicycle Face, A Way with Wild Things, and How Do You Do? She lives in Pasadena, California.
