作者介紹 Dr. Jonathan Scott Perry is an Associate Professor of History at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee. Dr. Perry earned degrees at Ohio University (double B.A.s in History and Latin) and at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (M.A. and Ph.D in History), and he has taught at a number of American and Canadian colleges, including Chapel Hill, Brevard College (N. Carolina), the University of Central Florida (Orlando), York University (Toronto), and USF-SM. He has published a series of articles on, among other topics, classical scholarship in Fascist Italy, Latin epigraphy (the study of inscriptions), sport terminology in the ancient world, and women and Greek athletics. His first book, The Roman Collegia: The Modern Evolution of an Ancient Concept (Leiden, the Netherlands: Brill Academic Publishers, 2006), traces the development of a Roman concept from 1843 through the 20th century and to the present, and it has been nominated for two national book prizes this year.
