內容簡介 這是薩克斯風手明諺的第二張實體個人專輯。也是在即興音樂裡相當罕見的錄音室作品。 樂手除了有台灣即興鋼琴第一把交椅李世揚之外，最特別的是日本國寶，高齡75歲的世界知名即興爵士鼓／二胡 豐住芳三郎Sabu Toyozumi。三人自2013年起就有陸續在台灣和日本有合作演出，於是在 2017第二屆台灣國際即興音樂節的巡迴空檔之中，他們花了一個下午的時間在錄音室裡，姿意揮灑。 而從3小時的錄音素材中，精選出了50分鐘的音樂。即興音樂講究⼀氣呵成，以及捕捉演奏當下獨⼀無 二的吉光片羽。所以通常出版的都是現場錄音，但是較不易有好的音質水準。本張專輯就是以希望能完 整捕捉到樂器所有細節聲響，加上完善的混音後製來完成一張最高規格的即興音樂作品。 而水滋養萬物，一切都需要它才能發生延續，在自然中以各式各樣的型態出現，無限循環。所以「上善 若水」意指的是：即興音樂有如水一般的純粹。是去除掉多餘的定義之後，回歸到的聲音本質探索。隨 著標題帶來聽覺上的指引，加上音樂中三人多變的樂器音色還有許多妙不可言的互動，這是一張充滿事性的音樂專輯。用50分鐘來沈澱自我的心靈，讓形色萬變的音符如水的各種型態將聽覺固化，讓身體液化，進而汽化聆聽中的神識，若水而至善。上善若水 As good As Water「As good As Water」 is the second solo studio album by Taiwanese Saxophonist Minyen Hsieh. It is also a rare studio attempt in the Improv. Music realm. With the top improvisational Pianist Shih-Yang Lee joining forces, it is also worth noting that the album includes the world renowned Drummer Erhuist Sabu Toyozumi in fold. The trio has been constantly collaborating on numerous live projects in both Taiwan and Japan. This studio recording was captured during 2017’s “Taiwan International Improvised Music Festival ” tour, with three artists allowing their instruments to guide them instinctively on an idle afternoon. It features 50 minutes of selections out of the original improvisation session that clocks in at three hours. In a realm which emphasizes capturing the lightning in a bottle within the flow of continuity, the common trend is to record it live with bare minimal production, thus compromises the overall quality. But in hopes of perfectly capturing each of the timbres and silver sounds that came out of their instruments, this album was completed with a thorough post-production work that is almost unprecedented. All life is nourished by water, it carries us in various shapes and forms through the circle of life. “As good As Water” takes its name from the nature of music improvisation, as it undresses all superfluous definition and returns to the odyssey of sound itself. Simple and pure, like water. Guided by its name, the trio tells a story with its ever-changing interaction that breaks on the shore of rhythm and notes, and comes together with harmony. Bathe yourself in this 50 minutes of meditation, let your consciousness purify in the flow. And it may, just may, take you where no one has tread before.謝明諺（シェ‧ミンイェン）は、2017年台湾で開催された第29回ユニバーシアードの閉会セレモニーで、台湾伝統音楽と西洋音楽を融合した壮大な組曲を演奏する大役をはたすなど、台湾のジャズ界を代表するサックス奏者である。本作「上善若水」は、台湾ジャズ界でも名実ともにナンバーワンの謝明諺が、かねてから共演を重ねてきた、フリージャズ界の重鎮、豊住芳三郎と、フリーピアニストの李世揚（リー‧シーヤン）と2017年に「台湾国際即興音楽フェスティバル」ツアーの合間に、録音したスタジオアルバムである。研ぎ澄まされた即興の感覚を持ち合わせた3人が、3時間にわたって繰りひろげたインプロを50分間セレクトして作られた、謝明諺としてのセカンドアルバム。ヨーロッパの影響を感じさせるファーストアルバム「Firry Path」から、大いに飛翔した「上善若水」。水のように純粋で透き通って、常に形を変え続けながら、シンプルに即興の美しさと生々しさをそのまま封じ込めた、最新作。https: www.youtube.com watch?v=Zwg0VVFFi0s&t=9s
