For more than a decade, Cicada has woven Taiwan’s mountains, seas, and landscapes into sound. “Gazing the Shades of White” opens a journey from island to island, following the traces of glaciers across both hemispheres, from Iceland and Greenland to New Zealand, and back to Taiwan to seek the traces left by ancient glaciers.Colossal ice bodies drift in Greenland’s Ilulissat fjord. Along Iceland’s highland trails, glaciers meet the remnants of lava flows. Between Vatnajökull and Jökulsárlón, countless fragments of ice quietly dissolve into time. At Taiwan’s Snow Mountain, a glacial lake rests beside long-standing junipers. Beneath Aoraki, the traveler finds silence in sync with the mountain.Through delicate sound and moments gathered on the road, Cicada turns the disappearance of eternal landscapes into intimate encounters between music and listener.1. 凝視白色的邊界 Gazing the Shades of White2. 走在冰川留下的路 Where the Glacier Once Passed4. 碎石坡畔的湖與森林 Junipers by the Glacier Lake5. Awaiting for the Path to Appear6. Once Covered in Ice9. aus Says: “I wanted to combine synthetic MIDI tones with the sound of ice inside glass on my table, to express the melting of glaciers caused by global warming, bringing something so immense right onto the tabletop, as if it were happening close to us.”Remix製作人:aus|協同製作:江致潔|作曲:江致潔、Yasuhiko Fukuzono|編曲:aus|混音:黃志煜|母帶後製:Zino MikoreyRemixed and Produced by aus Associate Producer: Jesy Chiang Music: Jesy Chiang & Yasuhiko Fukuzono Arrangement: aus Mixing Engineer: Jason Huang Mastering Engineer: Zino Mikorey10. Where the Glacier Once Passed (Joseph Shabason Version)Joseph Shabason將原曲的小提琴,經過兩台Tape Echo效果器逐漸改變音高,創造出奇異而超現實的持續低鳴,象徵他想像中的冰川緩慢移動。 Joseph Shabason says: “I took the violins from the original track, ran them through two tape echos, and slowly affected the pitch so that it created a really weird and otherworldly drone that runs throughout the piece.... Sonically, they remind me of a slow-moving glacier.”“Then I took some moments from the Pitz Cello parts and created a chord progression that I found both harmonically and rhythmically interesting. From there, I just built out a whole new world that I am absolutely in love with.” “I think it's one of the best ones I've ever done. I am so proud of how good it turned out.” Zino MikoreyRemade and Produced by Joseph Shabason Piano: Joseph Shabason, Bram Gielen Aerophone: Joseph Shabason Synth: Joseph Shabason FX: Joseph Shabason Bass: Bram Gielen Drums: Phil Melanson Pedal Steel: Ian McGimpsey Guitars: Ryan Dugre Recorded and Mixed by Joseph Shabason at Studio Aytche Mastering Engineer: Zino Mikorey11. Colloboh Says: “I essentially chopped up various parts of the stems, primarily the oboe for the first half and the guitar for the 2nd.” “I transposed the samples + or - 6 steps from the original pitch and then played around with their sequence until it sounded interesting to me. Then I ran those sequences through my modular setup to add little textured bits and finally added more melodies over things.” “Truthfully there are 2 separate song ideas in the track but I wasn’t fully sure which one to go with so I decided to put them together.”Remix製作人:Colloboh|作曲:江致潔|編曲:Colloboh|混音:Colloboh|母帶後製:Colloboh|母帶後製:Zino MikoreyProducer: Colloboh Music: Jesy Chiang Arrange: Colloboh Recording Engineer: Colloboh Mixing Engineer: Colloboh Mastering Engineer: Colloboh Mastering Engineer: Zino Mikorey12. KMRU Says:“Recorded through ppooll and Ableton workflow, resampling original stems, reimagining a new version of the original piece. It is also influenced by the imagery of Yushan Juniper forest and its surroundings provided by Cicada.” Zino MikoreyReworked by Joseph Kamaru (KMRU) in Berlin, DEProducer: KMRU Music: Jesy Chiang Arrangement: KMRU Mixing Engineer: KMRU Additional Synths, Sounds & Field Recordings by KMRU Mastering Engineer: Zino Mikorey13. aus Says:“Fragments of broken ice are evoked through glitching piano loops, while the lingering traces left behind are entrusted to the resonances of guitar and synthesizers. By introducing different harmonies into the violin, it depicts a gradual temporal shift like the slow drifting of climate.”Remix製作人:aus|協同製作:江致潔|作曲:江致潔、Yasuhiko Fukuzono|編曲:aus|混音:黃志煜|母帶後製:Zino MikoreyRemixed and Produced by aus Associate Producer: Jesy Chiang Music: Jesy Chiang & Yasuhiko Fukuzono Arrangement: aus Mixing Engineer: Jason Huang Mastering Engineer: Zino Mikorey14. After the Thaw, We All Breathe Again這首曲子是aus在三首作品中最後完成的,同時也作為EP的收尾曲。 aus Says:“This was the last of the three remixes I made, and also the closing piece of the album. Rather than a straightforward remix, it became more of a recomposition that intertwines two music. Using the sounds of colliding ice and the sea, I generated overtones to form the drone. The places that were once covered in ice and the places where we now live are all connected. and we must continue to breathe here.”Remix製作人:aus|作曲:江致潔、Yasuhiko Fukuzono|編曲:aus|小提琴:Kumi Takahara|錄音室:IMA|混音:黃志煜|母帶後製:Zino MikoreyRemixed and Produced by aus Music: Jesy Chiang & Yasuhiko Fukuzono Arrangement: aus Violin: Kumi Takahara Recorded at IMA Mixing Engineer: Jason Huang Mastering Engineer: Zino Mikorey

Cicada is a contemporary chamber music ensemble from Taiwan, formed in 2009, consisting of violin, cello, piano, and acoustic guitar. It is named after Cicada because people are aware of cicada's existence by their sound instead of forms. In 2013, Cicada began to compose for Taiwan. The theme of “Coastland” was the west coastland, and “Light Shining Through the Sea” was inspired by the east coast and the Pacific Ocean. “White Forest” released in 2017 drew inspiration from marine life such as humpback whales, dolphins, coral reefs and sea turtles. Cicada walked into the mountain from the ocean on their 10th year and released the hiking journal “Hiking in the Mist”. In 2022, their focus switched to the valleys and forests. “Seeking the Sources of Streams” comprised moments of roaming the mountains. In 2025, their album “Gazing the Shades of White” opened a journey from island to island, following thetraces of glaciers across both hemispheres.Cicada takes inspiration from landscapes, using chamber music to bring its natural beauty to life. With a background in Western classical music, the band blends contemporary elements into a unique sound that transcends language.Since forming, Cicada has toured across Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, Australia, Austria, and Russia, performing for tens of thousands of listeners. Beyond live performances, Cicada actively collaborates across borders. In 2021, they were invited by Japan’s Shochiku Films to contribute to the soundtrack of ‘A Man,’ which earned them the Japan Academy Film Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Music.
