故事採雙線進行，另一邊的主角是一位能與貓對話的中田先生，年幼時曾在山梨縣中遭遇不知名的意外事故，昏迷3周之後才清醒，雖然意識和身體恢復了，卻喪失了先前一切的記憶，語言與識字能力也自此消失，但也開啟了能與貓溝通的天賦，因而經常接受街坊鄰居的委託尋找失落的貓咪。某日，在結束尋找貓咪的任務後，便突然開啟了未知的旅程，在青年星野的協助下，為了找出「入口的石頭」、以及尋找與世界相連的地點。而神秘的關鍵人物指引兩人前往的黑暗世界裡是否也有出口？
兩段看似無關的生命探索旅程，却在無形中慢慢的交會成為交互影響彼此的關鍵。
