She graduated from National Taiwan Normal University in 1982 with a degree in Fine Art, and later moved to New York to study illustration at the School of Visual Art MFA program. She lives with her family in New York City.Between 1988 and 2008, HUANG worked mainly as a children’s book illustrator and published over sixty children’s books. Her first illustrated book was What Can A Giant Do? published by Harper Collins in 1992. The first book written by her is A Stroll with Illustration, an illustrated memoir released by Heryin in Taiwan in 2005.
