On her sixth album for the Myrios Classics label, Tabea Zimmermann has chosen a collection of romantic miniatures for the viola, including almost entirely forgotten works by popular composers of the 19th century, like Liszt, Vierne, Vieuxtemps and Wieniawski. At the heart of this recital is 'Album Leaves' by the Bohemian composer Hans Sitt, a contemporary of Johannes Brahms.
Tabea Zimmermann's long-term musical partner, pianist Thomas Hoppe, joins her for this recording.
In October 2014, Tabea Zimmermann was awarded the German music prize ECHO KLASSIK as Instrumentalist of the Year for her complete recordings of Paul Hindemith's viola works. It is her second award in this same category since 2010.
