內容簡介

Yilian Canizares is an exceptionally gifted musi-cian, violinist and singer. Her second album on naive, Invocacion, mixes jazz, Afro-Cuban music and much more. Produced by Alê Siqueira, it includes a breathtaking cover of Edith Piaf's Non je ne regrette rien, besides other pearls.

"Invocacion" is a manifestation of Yilian Canizares's musical universe in its diversity, a passionate and exciting album, just like this really skilled artist who loves to play with her Cuban roots but who refuses to limit her inspiration to cliches. Between tradition and modernity, lyricism and bewitching rhythms, here we are, in the heart of an eclectic and blended music.

Taught the very best of Cuban music under the classi-cal discipline of a Russian teacher, Yilian Canizares plays with very talented musicians in her last album: Alê Siqueira (Roberto Fonseca, Omara Portuondo, Mayra Andrade etc.), who is in charge of the artistic production; Akua Naru, who adds his hip-hop & jazz universe on a Yoruba accented melody, along with Daniel Stawinski (piano), David Brito (double bass) and Cyril Regamey (drum kit).

"Love doesn't end with death. We are still loving people who left and we keep their memories strong in our minds; we build our present, starting from the history of our elders. I come from a culture in which it is believed, that ancestors and im-portant people in our lives continue to walk with us and guide us, even after their deaths. This album is inspired from this belief. Invocacion's music is nothing but the external result of my relation with these light-made beings, these people who changed my life, personally and artistically.

While recording this album, I felt this link stronger, even if the music is not meant to look at the past. On the opposite, it is a contemporary music, it stems from my very rich experience as a Cuban woman, as a citizen of the world speaking a universal language, not forgetting where she comes from.

People who inspired me: "Tata" my grandfather (Donde hay amor), who remains the most important manly character of my life; he loved me so much, he taught me so much. Mapucha – a family ancestor; she is said to be born as a slave, but she died as a free woman. Luis Carbonell (Cancion de Cuna para dormir a un negrito) great Cuban artist, friend of my family who transmitted me unforgettable lessons on live performances and who died recently. Simon Díaz (Lucero) this great Vene-zuelian artist died in 2014; and finally Edith Piaf and its unique way of singing: my humble tribute to my adoptive language... I have also been inspired by nowadays beings: my mother (Iya Mi) who is my ideal, restarting all over from scratch at 60, like if she wanted me to know that nothing is impossible. Laila my young niece, Oshun (Beroni Abebe Osun) my eternal goddess, my protective Orisha.

You have this album between your hands, so you're part of this powerful and wonderful energy, known under the most diverse names: God, the universe, love, music… whatever the name of this energy is, it is everywhere, in you and in me."
