With the publication of this guidebook, Meet the New National Palace Museum, visitors can follow the newly revised tour routes through the galleries at the NPM devised along a chronological axis. From the Neolithic age in remote antiquity all the way up to the late Ch’ing dynasty in the twentieth century, introductions to the historical background and artistic and cultural development are provided for each period. Complemented by in-depth and easy-to-read explanations, both general audiences and students of Chinese art alike will find more to appreciate and understand. There are over than 160 color photos in this guidebook. Although there is no way to display the entire collection in its entirety all at once, this book plays the role of a fine yet concrete way of viewing the large from the small. It is greatly hoped that this book can serve as an unlimited extension of the NPM experience for all.
